Cong only secular option for people of J&K: Ex-DyCM

AKHNOOR, Aug 4: Chairman Campaign Committee JKPCC and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that Congress party is the only secular alternative acceptable to people in J&K.
He urged the cadre to strengthen the party and expose the failure and wrong policies of ruling Party in J&K, which is responsible for the current situation prevailing in the UT.
Addressing the public meeting in Pargwal area of Akhnoor Constituency today, Tara Chand said that people of Jammu region feel utterly cheated and betrayal for the failure of ruling Party leaders to represent and agitate their concerns.
Ruling party in J&K miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people. There was strong resentment among the people against previous Government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of past elections. There was anger among the people of Jammu, he added.
The Congress leader alleged that ruling party played with the sentiments of the people, who voted them to power. People were not happy with their policies and the Government proved to be a failure. Despite people hitting streets against governance deficit, lack of development and failure of the Government to deliver on the promise made to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir, Government did not move even an inch over it.
Tara Chand claimed that Congress during its tenure had proved how to provide pro- people governance to the people by bringing total transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Government.
“We set an example of good governance during Congress regime where in every individual was provided with the equal opportunity of growth and development, “he said.
Reiterating his resolve to institutionalize transparency and accountability in the governance, Tara Chand said that the Congress had shown the way for strengthening democratic and Constitutional institutions in the state by initiating various revolutionary steps during its tenure in the power.
