NC criticizes neglect of women’s welfare in Reasi

REASI, Aug 5: A significant meeting of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Women Wing was convened today in Katra, under the leadership of Sunita Rajput, District president JKNC women wing, Reasi.
The event was graced by the presence of Bimla Luthra, State vice president of JKNC and former MLA, as the chief guest and Jagjeevan Lal, District president Reasi and former Minister as guest of honour.
Sunita briefing the senior functionaries of the party, referred to the severe hardships faced by the women in entire district Reasi. She highlighted, the absence of women-centric welfare policies and the lack of basic amenities in the district, which have exacerbated the struggles of women, particularly in the rural and far-flung areas.
Jagjeevan Lal highlighted the Government’s failure to develop the remote regions of Reasi district. He pointed out the acute shortage of essential services, particularly affecting the pilgrims in the holy town of Katra. “Pilgrims are facing an acute shortage of water and other necessary amenities in Katra,” he stated, calling for immediate attention to the infrastructural deficiencies.
In her address, Bimla Luthra launched scathing attack on the Government’s incompetence in addressing the pressing issues faced by the women and residents of Reasi. “The Government has utterly failed to implement effective policies for women’s welfare and development. The lack of basic facilities and infrastructure in Reasi is a testament to their neglect,” she said.
Former MLA urged the women of the district Reasi to take a pledge to support the National Conference in the upcoming Assembly polls. Emphasizing the crucial role women play in shaping the future of the community, she highlighted the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment and their active participation in the political process.
Luthra stressed that the National Conference has always stood for the upliftment and rights of women and their collective effort is essential for the party’s success and the overall progress of district Reasi.
The meeting concluded with a pledge from the women wing to continue their fight for the rights and welfare of women in Reasi district.
