BUDGAM, Apr 6: Saying that the current Parliamentary election in the country is a decisive battle between secular and communal forces, the senior NC leader and the Minister for Finance A R Rather today called upon the people to rise to the occasion to strengthen the secular forces so that communal forces never raise their ugly head and the people will live a peaceful life in a free atmosphere of communal harmony.
He said it was most unfortunate that some political parties like PDP in the State have indulged in a secret alliance with the communal forces whose Prime-ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was responsible for the worst ever communal riots and blood shed in Gujarat adding that this will remain the darkest chapter in the history of India.
Speaking to a mammoth public meeting at Waragam in Khan Sahib constituency, organized in favour of Dr Farooq Abdullah, who is NC-Congress coalition candidate for Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency, Mr Rather said people of the State have always rejected communal forces and this time also they will defeat nefarious designs of communal and anti national people by inflicting crushing defeat to them in the current elections.
He said that PDP is the brain child of BJP to gag voice of the people from being heard at the highest fora of democracy. The basic objective of the hidden understanding between the two parties is to divide the secular votes to pave way for communal and selfish parties to grab the power, he added.
Mr Rather said NC is the real representative of the people of all the three regions of the State which has always fought for the rights and honour of the people. He said this party has withstood test of the times and offered supreme sacrifices but never let its people down.
