JAMMU, Aug 6: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Dr Sunil Gupta, led a crucial meeting today to review security arrangements for Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra 2024 and assess the current security situation in Akhnoor and Chowki Choura areas.
As per a statement, the meeting was attended by senior officers including SSP Jammu, SP Rural Jammu, SDPO Akhnoor, SHO Akhnoor, and incharge Police Post Chowki Choura.
Dr Gupta emphasized the critical importance of ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims during the Yatra.
He stressed the need for meticulous planning and execution of security measures to address potential threats and challenges effectively.
Special attention was given to securing the pilgrimage route, accommodation sites and Langer locations.
Dr Gupta directed officers to implement “Operation Third Eye” within their jurisdictions in coordination with other stakeholders to ensure foolproof security for the yatris.
Additionally, officers were instructed to enhance security at all checkpoints, particularly during the night.
The meeting also addressed strategies to manage the anticipated influx of pilgrims, including traffic regulation, parking arrangements, and emergency response protocols.
The review covered medical facilities, emergency services, and disaster management plans to handle health-related issues and emergencies throughout the Yatra.
Dr Gupta underscored the need for sustained vigilance and preparedness, urging all officers to ensure the effective implementation of security plans throughout the Yatra.
