Doctor shot at in Pulwama

SRINAGAR, Apr 6: Militants this evening shot at and injured the former Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of South Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Station House Officer of Police Station Pulwama, Reyaz Ahmad, told Excelsior that two militants entered into the clinic of Dr Ghulam Qadir Sofi at Pulwama and fired at him. “He received two bullets one in right neck and other in left hand”, he added.
Gunmen fled from the scene after carrying out the attack. The doctor was rushed hospital for treatment and his condition is out of danger.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot and question some people but no one was arrested.
Dr Sofi was charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for fudging the samples in the Shopian women alleged rape and murder case.
Sofi was suspended by Government after he was caught on video while having sex with a woman in his office in 2010.
