Trump’s campaign pleased with Harris’ pick of Walz as running mate: Reports

Washington, Aug 7: The presidential campaign office of former US President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is overjoyed over his rival Vice President Kamala Harris’ pick of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, the Daily Mail newspaper reported. Trump’s allies were pleasantly surprised by Harris’ choice, as they feared that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro would run alongside the Democratic nominee against Trump’s vice president pick, J D Vance, according to the report. “Instead of picking the candidate with charisma and a moderate record, Kamala caved to the Hamas caucus and picked a charisma black hole with a long record of supporting extreme liberal policies and a history of being close to China,” a source close to the Trump campaign told the newspaper on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Harris told her supporters that she chose Walz as her running mate for the 2024 presidential race because he was a “battle-tested leader.” President Joe Biden posted a message on X in which he hailed Harris’ choice and called it a great decision, calling on all Democrats to rally behind Harris and now Walz, while calling the latter a strong, principled, and effective leader.
Walz, 60, has served as Minnesota’s governor since 2019 and was a congressman from 2007 to 2019. (UNI)
