SRINAGAR, Aug 7: A team of officers of J&K Branch Office of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) along with officers from Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology Department J&K carried out search and seizure at four different locations in Kashmir.
The 1st team led by Pankaj Atri, Joint Director BIS JKBO along with Md Muzaffar Wani from Legal Metrology Department carried out search and seizure at the premise of Diamond Grinding Media Industry Firm and found it violating QCO and huge quantity of iron ingots were seized.
The 2nd team led by Niraj Mishra, Deputy Director BIS along with Md Yusuf from Dept of FCS & CA carried out search and seizure at the premise of Bala Jewelers, Downtown Srinagar where Jewellery without BIS Hallmark was seized.
The 3rd team led by Hitesh Yadav, Deputy Director BIS along with Tajamul Yusuf from Dept of FCS & CA carried out search and seizure at Hari Singh High Street Srinagar while the 4th team led by Raj Kumar, Assistant Director BIS along with Mudasir Rashid from Legal Metrology Dept carried out search and seizure at the premise of Kashmir Glass, Khonmoh. This firm was found violating QCO and huge quantity of iron toughened glass was seized from there.
Action is being initiated by BIS J&K Branch Office against the offenders under the BIS Act, 2016.
