Speakers recall role of Vaishnavi during Praja Parishad Movement

JAMMU, Aug 7: The role of Pt Amarnath Vaishnavi a veteran KP leader and RSS ideologue was highlighted by various speakers during a debate held in connection with the 99th birth anniversary of great KP leader at Sai Shyam Public Higer Secondary School Ghou Manhasan today.
Rohni Vaishnavi, Founder Amarnath Vaishnavi Foundation was the chief guest on the occasion. Bal Krishan Sanyasi, a renowned poet and author who has also written the biography of Pandit Amarnath Vaishnavi, “The Chronicles of Kashmir,” was the guest of honour and Rajinder Singh Chib ex-Chairman Municipal Committee, Ghou-Manhasan was the special guest on the occasion.
Rohini Vaishnavi while speaking on the occasion highlighted the achievements and role of Amarnath Vaishnavi in social work in general and in Praja Parishad Movement in particular. She said late leader will be always remembered for his selfless service to the nation and recalled his role in temporary rehabilitation of the displaced people from Kashmir after mass exodus in 1989-90.
Brij Nath Betab, a renowned poet and writer and Prof. Asha Kichloo an educationist adjudged the debaters on the occasion.
The topic for the debate contest was “Praja Parishad Movement-as an Integrating Force in J & K”. Winning students will be given cash prizes during the commemoration of the birth anniversary of the legend on August 24.
The programme started with Sarswati Vandana presented by the students of Sai Shyam Public Higher Secondary School.
In her welcome address Dr. Usha Tickoo Director Sai Shyam Educational Society gave a detailed overview of Praja Parishad Movement and its leaders. A number of students from different schools participated in the competition. Bhavika Pandita from S. L. Memorial High School secured the first position, Garima Verma from Sai Shyam Public Higher Secondary School secured 2nd position and Divanshi from Lord Shiva Day Boarding secured third position in the competition. Consolation prizes were given to two students Komal and Amenjeet Kaur. Certificates were given to the participants by the distinguished guests.
Vote of thanks was presented by Sanjeev Kumar Pandita, Principal Sai Shyam School and the programme was anchored by Komal Sambyal.
On the occasion tribute were also paid to veteran poet Maharaj Krishna Maharaj who passed away some days back.
