Two thieves held as police work out burglary case

JAMMU, Aug 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police in RS Pura area claimed today they have worked out a burglary case by arresting two individuals and recovering 13 stolen mobile phones from their possession.
A police official said that on August 2, 2024, one Ram Chander Mandal son of late Ashok Mandal of Kotli Shah Doula Patri, Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu, lodged a written complaint with Police Station RS Pura stating therein that on the intervening night of August 1-2, two unknown persons barged into his house and decamped with two mobile phones.
Acting on the complaint, he said, a case FIR number 162/2024 under Sections 331(4)/305 BNS was registered at Police Station RS Pura and investigation started.
Thereafter, the police official said that a special team constituted to investigate the case, arrested two individuals identified as Akhil Chopra of Ward number 10, RS Pura and Sant Kumar Banjaray of Chhattisgarh at present Ward number 10, RS Pura.
He said during sustained questioning, the detained individuals confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, the stolen mobile phones along with 11 other mobile phones stolen from different locations were recovered.
Accordingly, the accused have been arrested and further investigation into the case is underway, he said.
