LADAKH, Aug 8: Prominent political leader Sajjad Kargili has voiced serious concern over the inadequate infrastructure at the District Hospital Kargil.
Speaking to reporters, Kargili criticized the current state of the hospital, highlighting the lack of progress since Ladakh became a Union Territory (UT) five years ago.
When Ladakh was designated as a Union Territory, the Government promised to empower the region and address the discrimination allegedly faced under the Kashmiris-led Government. However, according to Kargili, these promises have not been fulfilled, particularly in the healthcare sector.
The District Hospital in Kargil was inaugurated as a 300-bed facility by then-Lieutenant Governor Radha Krishna Mathur. Yet, the hospital currently operates with only 100 beds, leaving the region’s most populated district struggling with insufficient healthcare resources.
