JAMMU, Aug 9: A Bangladeshi woman was arrested from Talab Tillo area here for overstaying in the region post marrying a local resident.
Junaki Chiram, who originally arrived in Jammu in 2022 on a three-month visa, was detained on Thursday.
Police sources revealed that Chiram’s visa expired in May 2022, but she remained in Jammu and wed a local man from Trikuta Nagar.
The couple had been residing in Puran Nagar, Talab Tillo, they said.
Upon receiving a tip-off, a team from Nowabad Police Station apprehended Chiram, who was later sent to seven days police remand.
While an FIR has been filed against the accused woman, further investigations are underway.
