VIJAYPUR, Aug 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Vijaypur area claimed today they have worked out a chain snatching case by arresting one person.
A police official said on August 8, 2024, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Vijaypur by one Raj Kumar son of Girdhari Lal of Gagore, Tehsil Vijaypur, regarding snatching of his wife’s purse and a cash amount of Rs 15700 near Vijaypur Main Market.
On this, the police official said that a case FIR number 107/2024 under Section 304 of the BNS was registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, the police official added that a party of Police Station Vijaypur led by SHO concerned, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq detained one suspect identified as Rohit Kumar of Harsha Dabber, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu.
“The suspect confessed to have committed the crime during sustained questioning,” he said, adding that on his disclosure, the stolen amount and the purse of the victim was recovered.
Police have also seized a scooty used in the commission of the crime, he said.
Further investigation into the case is underway, said the police official.
