Srinagar, Aug 10: Police in Anantnag today dismantled a “major” illicit liquor production unit and apprehended eight individuals allegedly involved in the operation.
In a statement, police said that during a routine inspection at the brick kiln ‘Jan Thajiwara,’ owned by Tanveer Ahmad, a substantial quantity of country-made liquor and equipment used for its production were seized.
“In addition to the seized liquor, police apprehended eight individuals and recovered Rs 13,600, which is believed to be proceeds from the sale of the illegal liquor,” the statement added.
Police said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is ongoing “to uncover further details and connections related to this illicit operation.”
