JAMMU, Aug 10: Dogri Sanstha Jammu organized Dogri Ghazal Goshthi at Dogri Bhawan, Karan Nagar Jammu in which prominent poets of Dogri language participated.
Noted poets, Deepak Aarsi, Dr Nirmal Vinod, TR Magotra, Bishan Singh Dardi, Sushil Begana, Vijaya Thakur and Dr Yash Raina enthralled the literature lovers with their captivating ghazals. Prof Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu presided over the function.
While presiding over the function Prof Magotra said that it was a very successful Ghazal Goshthi as all the participants have exhibited their potential in their literary pieces. While complementing them he said that they are expert of their field and all of them have already carved a niche in Dogri literature with their colossal contributions.
He further added that although writing Ghazal is not easy as the poet has to follow certain rules but todays’ Ghazal Goshthi has proved that Dogri Ghazal is at par with other languages.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha Jammu while presenting vote of thanks said that presentation of entrancing poetry in the form of Ghazlas by the participants easily shows the status of Ghazal writing in our mother tongue.
He further added that regular literary activities is the mission of Sanstha and recalled that despite the fact that Corona epidemic had halted the literary activities, Sanstha still had made it a point that literary activities should not suffer from a vacuum and online activities came to the rescue at that crucial time. He hoped that Dogri Sanstha will get the support of all Dogras in its different initiatives for preserving and promoting mother tongue Dogri and cultural heritage.
The Ghazal Goshthi was conducted by eminent Dogri poet Susheel Begana and was attended by quite a good number of litereateurs and poetry lovers of different languages.
