VIJAYPUR, Aug 11: Senior BJP leader Arun Kumar Sharma today exhorted the party workers and supporters to work together for ensuring that the J&K Union Territory gets its first Chief Minister from the saffron party by winning the upcoming Assembly elections on its own.
While addressing a public meeting at village Pati at Vijaypur, Arun slammed the Congress and the National Conference for allegedly exploiting different sections of people for vote bank politics.
He appealed people to take a pledge that they would work with a goal to achieve majority in the forthcoming Assembly elections. “Our pledge is to form the next Government on our own and have a BJP Chief Minister and we have to work together to achieve this goal,” he said and added that after abrogation of Article 370, a positive atmosphere was prevailing in J&K and the party’s support base has further strengthened across Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking about the BJP’s Lok Sabha performance in Jammu, Arun said that the victory was not ordinary but validation of developmental works and progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been continuously serving the nation in the interest of the people.
Lashing out at the Congress, Arun said that it does not understand the country’s people and this was the reason that voters kept this party below 100 parliamentary seats for the third consecutive time. “In 13 States, Congress could not win even a single seat,” Arun added.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting, included Pt Balak Ram, Bihari Lal, Naib Sarpanch Jagdish Raj, Sat Paul, Anil Kumar, Sunita Devi, Retd Insp Girdhari Lal Bhagat and others.
