VIJAYPUR, Aug 12: Giving a clarion call to people to teach the ruling-BJP a lesson for anti-people policies and total failure of the twin-engine syndrome, often touted by them as a solution to resolve people’s problem, senior Congress leader Mohinder Bhardwaj said due to colossal failure of the Centre and BJP-driven LG administration in J&K, people of Jammu are suffering for no fault of theirs.
Addressing a mega “Nyay Rally” here today organised to highlight the problems being faced by the people due to total unresponsive governing system, he said the soon to be held Assembly elections will be an opportunity for people to punish the guilty. “Soon the people’s court will be asked to deliver the judgement. It will be your golden opportunity to seek explanation from BJP leaders and candidates, when they come to seek votes, as to what they have done for you. Consign them to the dustbin through the means of ballot lest they do not dare to take you far-granted in future,” he said.
Bhardwaj said past track-record proves that only Congress stands by the poor, downtrodden, farmers, women, small traders and other sections of the society. “Lately, our leader Rahul Gandhi has shown by his actions and not merely words how these commitments are fulfilled and will all follow this path” he said.
He said the so-called double-engine sarkar has failed the people of Jammu on all fronts. The people of Jammu region, particularly those of Vijaypur Assembly segment, have been left to fend for themselves both in terms of protection of their political empowerment, land and employment rights and on issues related with bread and butter. On top of that they are suffering on a day-to-day basis due to lack of basic amenities such as regular power and water supply, good roads and the tax-terrorism unleashed by the Government.
Drawing attention of the Government towards pathetic conditions of civic amenities and roads in Purmandal Block, Bari Brahmana and Vijaypur and other towns and villages of the area, he demanded that the Government should immediately provide power and water supply to people including farmers on subsidised rates so that they could make their livelihood sustainable.
Others who were present on the occasion Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary Pardesh Congress Committee, Munish Choudhary, Jagpreet, Dr Rajesh, Rashpal Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Rakesh Chalotra, Babu Ram Saini, Jeet Raj, Dr Ramesh Choudhary, number of former Sarpanches and Panches and other prominent persons of all the three blocks of Vijaypur constituency.
