PSO of DDC Member dies in ‘mysterious’ gun-fire

POONCH, Aug 12: A personal security officer (PSO) of District Development Council (DDC) Member, Surankote-B and local BJP leader, Sohail Malik today died in a mysterious gun fire in Surankote area of Poonch district this evening.
Official sources said that the dead body of PSO, identified as Mohd Asif, son of Mohd Khurshid, resident of Mirza Morh, Surankote was found lying in the open area near the house of DDC Member, Malik. His both the SPOs were on duty when the incident took place.
Near the house of DDC Member, suddenly a sound of gun fire was heard. The people rushed towards the spot and found SPO in the pool of blood, the bullet had hit him near the neck and he reportedly died on the spot. His gun was lying at some distance.
The locals of the area in large number gathered on the spot and informed Police Station Surankote. The SHO and SDPO Surankote rushed to the spot. The body was later shifted to SDH Surankote, after examining spot by the police team.
A senior Police officer said that Asif was on duty as PSO with DDC Member and BJP leader Sohail Malik, “It appears to be accidental gun-fire case, however, the police was investigating the case on other angles as well. A case in this connection has been registered,” he added.
