JAMMU, Aug 12: The general secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Iftkhar Ahmed met Rahul Gandhi, AICC vice president and the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha at New Delhi today.
During the meeting, J&K Congress leader briefed Rahul Gandhi on the current political scenario in J&K and organisational matters in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Iftkhar further briefed Gandhi about the problems being faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir due to delay in the Assembly elections.
PCC general secretary conveyed to Rahul Gandhi as there is no Congress MP from J&K UT in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha, therefore, the people of J&K have a lot of expectations from him.
Iftkhar further requested Rahul Gandhi to visit J&K, particularly Pir Panjal region. He also discussed the issues related to promotion of tourism in Pir Panjal region, tunnel near Pir Ki Gali on Mughal Road and Railway connectivity to Rajouri and Poonch as it was more important as per the defense point of view.
Rahul Gandhi gave patient hearing to the demands and issues of the J&K and assured JKPCC leader that he will raise voice of the people of J&K in the Parliament.
