Srinagar, Aug 12: The Private Schools Association of J&K (PSAJK) today hailed the recent High Court order proposing a land exchange mechanism as a pivotal step toward securing the future of schools.
In a statement issued here, PSAJK said it convened an important meeting to address the judgment, attended by representatives from numerous schools operating on community lands, including Kahcharie, Shamilat, and state-owned lands.
The meeting discussed the pressing issues arising from the judgment and explored strategies for ensuring the continued education of thousands of students, PSAJK noted.
PSAJK Chief Organizer Shah Gulzar termed the meeting a vital step in the journey to protect the rights of schools and the future of students.
Senior Counsel Advocate Zaffar Ahmad Shah, who was also present, delved into the legal aspects of the High Court’s order.
“The High Court’s ruling offers a structured approach for schools to regularize their land status, ensuring compliance with the law while securing the future of educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir. This is a significant relief for schools facing uncertainty,” the PSAJK statement quoted Shah as saying.
It is notable that the court, through this judgment, provided crucial relief to private schools operating on state and community lands, ruling that these schools could either acquire proprietary land or approach the relevant authorities to consider their pleas.
PSAJK President G N Var emphasized the importance of unity and strategic action in navigating the challenges posed by the judgment. “This court order is not just a legal victory; it is a beacon of hope for thousands of students and their families,” he said.
Advocate Asif Nazir, who served as a legal assistant in the case, stressed the importance of proactive measures, stating, “This judgment is not just temporary relief but a stepping stone towards securing the future of our educational institutions. It is crucial that we take swift and coordinated action to ensure compliance and safeguard the rights of schools and their students.”
