SRINAGAR, Aug 13: CPI (M) leader, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has underlined the need for a proper transfer and regularization policy for the employees working under National Health Mission (NHM) in J&K for the last 16 years on contract basis.
In a handout the CPI (M) leader said that lack of job security, meager salary and lack of social security haunt these employees and the Government should enhance their wages on an equal-work-equal-pay principle.
“We urge the administration to enhance the extent and ambit of social security benefits under NHM Employees Contributory Welfare Fund to these employees,” he maintained adding: “Ex-gratia relief to these employees should also be enhanced and some scheme for them should also be introduced to benefit them on superannuation.”
Tarigami said that doctors, paramedical staff and ASHAs working under NHM perform a wide range of tasks but unfortunately they are not being paid any regular remunerations instead are being forced to work on meager incentives.
“The Government must take steps for regularization and should frame transfer policy for NHM employees besides releasing the enhanced Rs. 1000 incentive to ASHAs,” he continued.
