ADGP Kumar, DIGs Pathak, Singh among 133 awarded JKPMG, JKPMMS

I-Day: 51 police personnel among 54 from J&K, Ladakh get President’s Medal

JAMMU, Aug 14: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhim Sen Tuti, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) Yougal Manhas, Zahid Naseem Manhas, Ranjit Singh Sambyal, Joginder Singh, and Imtiyaz Hussain Mir are among the 51 police personnel from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh who have been awarded with the President’s Medal on the occasion of Independence Day.

Among the awardees from Jammu and Kashmir Police are 31 police officers who have been conferred with the President’s Medal for Gallantry (PMG)-highest number in the category of “police service” in the country and second highest among all the forces, with CRPF leading the table with 52 medals-followed by 2 police officers being awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), and 17 police officers awarded the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service (PMSM). A DySP from the Union Territory of Ladakh has also been awarded the PMSM.
A Home Guard & Civil Defence Head Constable from J&K, a Deputy Chief Warden from Ladakh, and one Selection grade Warder from the Jammu and Kashmir Correctional Service have also been awarded the PMSM.
Only one Head Constable of the Telangana Police has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) this year out of the total of 1037 personnel of Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD) and Correctional Services awarded with the President’s Medal this year across the country.
The Jammu and Kashmir UT Administration has also announced the Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry (JKPMG) and Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service (JKPMMS). While 127 police personnel have been conferred with the JKPMG, 6 police personnel, including ADGP Nitish Kumar, DIGs Shakti Kumar Pathak and Ajeet Singh, have been awarded the JKPMMS.
Those officers who have been awarded the President’s Medal for Gallantry (PGM) are Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yougal Kumar Manhas, Superintendent of Police Iftkhar Talib, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) Shabir Ahmad Khan, Sarfaraz Bashir Ganai, Sumit Kumar Sharma and Rohit Kumar, Inspectors Tanveer Jehangir, and Kushab Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Jagdish Singh, Karan Kumar, and Reyaz Ahmad Mir, Assistant Sub Inspectors Altaf Ahmad Shah, Amit Raina, Faroz Ahmad Dar, and Ajay Kumar, Head Constables Mohinder Singh, Mumtaz Ahgmad Sofi, Mudasir Ahmad Mir, and Hilal Ahmad Bhat, Selection grade Constables (SgCTs) Rameez Rashid Kambay, Naiz Ahmad, Anil Kumar, Reyaz Ahmad Wagay, Zamir Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Ashraf Kumar, Parshatam Singh, Kuldeep Singh, and Gulzar Ahmad Naik, and Constables Arundeep Singh, Safeer Lone, Shahnawaz Ahmad Deedad.
Those awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) are Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, and Joginder Singh.
Additionally, the officers who have been conferred with the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service (PMSM) are Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhim Sen Tuti, SSPs Zahid Naseem Manhas, and Ranjit Singh Sambyal, DySPs Kuldeep Handoo, Paramjeet Singh, and Naresh Kumar, Inspectors Kamal Sangra, Bilal Ahmad Bader, and Syed Israr Ahmed, Sub Inspectors Rajpaul Singh, Surinder Pandit, Deepak Bhat, Shabir Ahmed Sheikh, and Kulbushan Khajuria, ASI Mohammad Sarwar, Head Constables Sarfa Ram and Ram Paul.
Head Constable Rajesh Kumar of Home Guard and Civil Defence, and Incharge Selection grade Warder, Dalshada Akhter of the Correctional Service has also been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (PMSM).
From the Union Territory of Ladakh, the two recipients of the PMSM are DySP, UT of Ladakh, Sonam Dorje, and Deputy Chief Warden from Home Guards & Civil Defence, Chhering Dorje.
Meanwhile, the police officers who are recipients of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service (JKPMMS) are ADGP Nitish Kumar, DIGs Shakti Kumar Pathak and Ajeet Singh, DySP Manjeet Singh, Inspector Mir Zahid Hussain, and ASI Abdul Ahad Qazi.
In a message, Director General of Police, RR Swain, has congratulated all the awardees and their families.
“The awards are a testament to the J&K Police’s unwavering dedication, bravery and commitment to serving the nation and the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The selfless service and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and I am proud to lead such a dedicated and courageous force,” he said.
He has wished the awardees more success and recognition in future.
The Jammu and Kashmir DGP also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu and Kashmir Administration for recognising the valour and sacrifices of JKP.
“The acknowledgment is a motivation to strive for excellence and continue serving the nation with pride and passion,” added the DGP.
