On the first day of the Urs, special prayers were held throughout the day. Those overseeing the arrangements confirmed that the prayers would continue throughout the night.
They added that thousands of people are expected to attend the Urs, for which the administration and the management of Qamaria Trust have made elaborate arrangements.
Abdul Rashid, a member of the Qamaria Trust, emphasized the significance of the event, noting the deep reverence the saint holds among the locals.
“He has great reverence among the people, and on the Urs, people come here from different parts,” he said, recalling the 15-day long mela that used to be held during the Urs in the past.
Given the anticipated large turnout, the district administration has already implemented extensive arrangements.
To facilitate the movement of people visiting the shrine, the authorities have ordered the suspension of classes at the Central University of Kashmir-Green Campus, Govt Degree College Ganderbal, Qamariyah Hr. Sec. School, Girls Hr. Sec. School Ganderbal, Middle School Saloora, GMS Ganderbal, and Sultania Educational Institute Saloora on August 16 and 17.
Additionally, the road from Towheed Chowk to Steel Bridge Bamloora has been designated a ‘No Entry Zone,’ with police personnel assigned to guard the road on both sides.
As per the directives, no private or commercial vehicles will be allowed to ply on this road during these days.
