Sanskrit Week celebration inaugurated at Central Sanskrit University

JAMMU, Aug 16: Central Sanskrit University’s Shri Ranbir Campus in Jammu kicked off its Sanskrit Week Celebration today under the chairmanship of Campus Director Prof Shreedhar Mishra.
The event was graced by Padmashree Prof Vishwamurthy Shastri as the Chief Guest.
Prof Shastri emphasized the practical value of studying Sanskrit, noting its significant spiritual, philosophical, cultural, and religious roles.
He highlighted that Sanskrit is a crucial part of Indian heritage and underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the language.
In his presidential address, Prof Shreedhar Mishra underscored Sanskrit’s role beyond scholarly pursuits and rituals.
He described it as a medium that fosters a cultured and virtuous life, integral to guiding human conduct.
Professor Satish Kumar Kapoor, Chairman of the Sahitya Vidyashakha and Coordinator of the Sanskrit Week, outlined the week’s objectives, focusing on promoting Sanskrit and disseminating its rich knowledge through various competitions and activities.
Scheduled from August 16 to 23, the program will feature speeches, shloka recitations, Sanskrit songs, a quiz competition, and the Shravani Upakarma ritual.
The inauguration began with the lighting of the lamp and a Vedic invocation. Dr. D Dayanath, Coordinator of the Veda Department, welcomed the guests, while Dr. Tejnath Paudel delivered the vote of thanks. Technical support for the event was provided by Dr. Vivek Kumar, Akhil Sharma, Tirupati Bala, and Manoj Abrol.
The event saw participation from students and faculty members including Dr. Rishiraj, Dr. Pramod Kumar Shukla, Dr Devendra Mishra, Dr Madan Singh, Dr Shweta Sood, Dr Neetu Sharma, Dr Naveen Tiwari, Dr Khemnarayan, Dr Sarvesh Tripathi, and Dr Suman Chandra Pant. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr Rajkumar Mishra.
