Col. Kumar guides IIMC Jammu students

Jammu, Aug 16: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Jammu organised a lecture by Postmaster General Jammu, Col. Vinod Kumar, on “Career Opportunities in the Government Sector and the Role of the Department of Post.” The event aimed to provide insights into career paths for journalism students in the government sector.
Col. Vinod Kumar, an alumnus of IIMC Delhi, has been serving as a civil servant in the Indian Postal Service and the Indian Army since 2003. During his address, he highlighted various career opportunities in government departments, emphasising that “National Interest” should be the priority for aspiring journalists.
The session covered a wide range of topics, including the functioning of different ministries and the evolving landscape of new media. Col. Kumar emphasised the continued relevance of print media in the digital age while discussing the advantages and challenges posed by emerging technologies.
Regional Director IIMC Jammu, Dr. Dilip Kumar, expressed gratitude to Col. Kumar for his insightful address. He also acknowledged the valuable contributions of IIMC Jammu alumni. Abhishek Khajuria shed light on journalism careers in the government sector, while Harry Walia provided awareness about opportunities in the private sector.
The event was attended by faculty members, including Dr. Vinit Utpal, Dr. Ravia Gupta, Vishv, Rajiv Kumar and Gulshan Kumar.
