This fellowship, which recognizes emerging leaders committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was awarded following an intensely competitive selection process. Over 52,000 applicants from more than 6,000 campuses across the globe vied for the fellowship, with only 5%—representing 280+ campuses—being selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows this year.
This recognition marks a proud moment for both Hamid Rather and the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, as well as his home constituency of Pattan. Rather’s achievement underscores his dedication to public service and his commitment to fostering positive change both within his community and on a global scale.
In expressing his gratitude, Rather highlighted the vital support of his family and mentors in reaching this milestone. “I am deeply thankful to my parents, who are my lifeline and constant source of strength,” he shared.
The Millennium Development Fellowship offers participants access to world-class training, resources, and a global network of peers, empowering them to spearhead initiatives that drive social change and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
