Rangeelay Thankur real name Vijay Singh Sambyal, who is son of the soil hailing from Samba of Jammu region, has brought fame not only for himself but also to Jammu and Kashmir. This maestro of classical music has achievements and laurels through hard work and dedication. The life journey of this great son of this part of the country is both interesting, full of sustained struggle and inspiring personal example for the new generation.

It may be mentioned that this saintly Dogra, after professional work in All India Radio across the nation ultimately decided to settle down on the out-skirts of Jammu leading a saintly life and simultaneously continuing with full commitment to promotion of classical music among the talented youth in Jammu. He is a noble example and role-model.
It is indeed highly praiseworthy that Dr Om Goswami, a prolific writer and former Additional Secretary, J&K State Cultural Academy, took up the challenging task to author a book on this multi-facetted personality of Vijay Kumar Sambyal popularly known as Rangeeley Thakur, who is one of the top-ranking Indian classical musicians. Written in the mother-tongue, Dogri, this biographical sketch will evoke deep interest among the common readership.

Dr Om Goswami’s this book was launched at Writer’s Club, Cultural Academy, Jammu at a well-attended function was organized by the Duggar Manch, Jammu headed by Padamshree Mohan Singh.
This 152-page book, written in simple and stylish Dogri with captivating narration authored by Dr Goswami and published by reputed Highbrow Publications, Bari Brahmna, Jammu with good get-up amd printed on a fine paper at fairly moderate price. It is a good matter for all the Dogras ; the music lovers and also youth.
