JAMMU, Aug 17: State Congress Committee General Secretary and former Chairman of JMC, Satish Sharma today welcomed the announcement made by the Election Commission to hold elections in Jammu and Kashmir and said that our demand is that Jammu and Kashmir should also be given the status of a state after October 4.
Addressing a public meeting Satish said that BJP has been in power in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 10 years, whether it is a coalition government with PDP or the rule of the Lieutenant Governor, but if any class has been affected the most under the rule of BJP, then it is the poor and middle class.
He said that the public is troubled by inflation, increased electricity bills due to smart meters, and many types of taxes.
“BJP people used to make big claims that after the abolition of Article 370, many investors will come here, but no investor came, on the contrary, due to the end of the practice of Darbar Move and the train going directly to Katra, the business of Jammu came to a standstill and the youth of our Jammu and Kashmir started moving to other states in search of employment,” he said.
Satish said that as soon as the Congress government is formed, relief will be given in electricity bills and the employment will be created for the youth, and many types of schemes will also be brought for the poor and middle class people so that people can live their lives properly.
District Jammu Vice President Baldev Singh Wazir, Block President Sanjeev Katal were also present during the meeting.
