JAMMU, Aug 18: Jagti Welfare Movement (JWM) has expressed serious concern over acute water scarcity being faced by inmates of the township.
In a statement issued here, today the Chairman of the Movement, Sunil Pandita reiterated his demand that water supply scheme be taken up by the Jal Shakti Department as has already been decided by the Government to ensure the daily water supply to the township.
He said though Government has issued order to Jal Shakti Department over a year back in this regard, it is unfortunate that the Department has failed to take over the water supply scheme with the result the inmates of township are put to hardships especially in rainy season when the present water supply scheme gets chocked. He said it is unfortunate that even on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan the inmates of Jagti township are facing water crisis.
He said that Government is spending lakhs of rupees on water supply scheme by hiring a contractor for the same but all this money goes wasted as the inmates of the township continue to face water scarcity. He urged the Government to issue directives to the Department to take over the water supply scheme of the town without further delay failing which the camp inmates will come on roads.
