2 bovine smuggling bids foiled, 26 animals rescued

JAMMU, Aug 18: Police in Jammu’s Nagrota and Sidhra areas foiled two separate bovine smuggling bids and rescued 26 animals from the clutches of four smugglers, who have been arrested.
A police official said that Mohammad Arif of Kashi Shera Talwara, Tehsil and District Reasi, was arrested for transporting 19 bovines illegally by a team of Police Station Nagrota. He has been accordingly booked in case FIR number 224/2024 under section 223 BNS, 11 PC Act, and 5/52/54/56 of the Transport of Animals Act registered at Police Station Nagrota.
Similarly, the police official said that a team of Police Post Sidhra arrested three individuals identified as Faqir Mohammad, Rashid Ahmed, and Mushtaq Hussain, all residents of Bain Bajalta, Tehsil and District Jammu, for transporting 7 animals illegally.
They have been also booked in case FIR number 225/2024 under sections 223 of the BNS and 11 PCA Act registered at Police Station Nagrota.
Further investigation in both the cases is underway, he said.
