JAMMU, Aug 20: The Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademy (BDSA), J&K, organized a one-day seminar at its Roop Nagar complex to commemorate the 92nd birth anniversary of its founder, Babu Parmanand.
The event, led by BDSA Working President BR Kundal, brought together executive members and distinguished personalities who paid floral tribute to Babu Parmanand.
HR Phousa, spokesperson for the Akademy, highlighted Babu Parmanand’s legacy as a former Finance Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Governor of Haryana, and a prominent Dalit leader.
Phousa praised his contributions to education and his stature as a towering figure in the Dalit community.
Dr Rakesh Kumar Atri, Secretary of BDSA-J&K, also addressed the gathering, focusing on the life and mission of Dr B R Ambedkar, and noted that Babu Parmanand had continued Ambedkar’s work, advancing his ideals.
BR Kundal, in his presidential address, emphasized the importance of the BDSA in propagating Ambedkar’s ideology and urged public support for the Akademy’s initiatives.
General Secretary Vijay Kumar Bhagat, who conducted the proceedings, shared his personal experiences as a close associate of Babu Parmanand.
The seminar concluded with a unanimous resolution by the members to continue working towards the betterment of the BDSA and the welfare of marginalized communities.
