JAMMU, Aug 20: Demanding strict action against the culprits involved in organising a programme at an ancient Hindu Shrine of Karkut Nag in Vail Nagbal area of Salia of district Anantnag, the Papharan Nag Karkut Nag Trust (PNKNT) Panzmulla Salia Anantnag has sought an immediate intervention of district administration in the matter so that there will be no more messing with the sanctity of the shrine.
Expressing serious concern on organising a programme at the shrine on Shravan Purnima by some miscreants, the members of the Trust asked the Government that it should order a probe in the matter besides initiate strict action against culprits involved in this whole act of targeting the shrine by different ways and means. The kind of programme organised on the Hindu shrine and later reporting on social media has hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
For centuries, the shrine of Karkut Nag dedicated to Lord Vishnu has been a sacred place of worship for Hindus and it’s reference is boldly mentioned in many Hindu religious scriptures as well as in Rajtarangini. Besides, the revered shrine had been remaining a place for meditation and worship of various Hindu saints from across the country. The KPs have been visiting the shrine on different occasions prior to nineties to pay obeisance to the deity and the same practice was once again initiated for last few years by the Trust but it has been disliked by elements hell bent on to disturb peace.
Condemning the incident as being a share interference in religious shrine of KPs, the members of the Trust made it clear that the sacred shrine of Karkut Nag is belonging to them and no one will be allowed to grab it with any intention. They, also, said that repeated attempts have been made to raise structures in the premises of the shrine after nineties by taking advantage of the absence of the minority community.
Making an appeal to the Lieutenant Governor in general and district administration in particular, the Trust demanded to dismantle of structures constructed after nineties at the shrine besides asked unscrupulous elements to refrain from organising such programs there in near future. Further, they demanded eviction drive on encroached land of both Papharan Nag and Karkut Nag shrines.
