JAMMU, Aug 21: Different organisations here today celebrated ‘World Senior Citizen Day’ and lauded the services of elders in society.
Senior Citizens Service Support Club Chawadi celebrated ‘World Senior Citizen Day’. A rally was sponsored on this occasion by the students of different schools and it passed from Channi Himmat Chowk to Panj Mandir to aware the masses about the importance of this day. Slogans like ‘Love Elders, Respect Elders and Help Elders’ were raised by the students in the rally. Dr. Kasturi Lal Gupta, founder and Chairperson of the Club took initiative for organizing the rally.
Gourav Gupta, general secretary of Jammu Club was chief guest and he advised the younger generation and children to pay full respect and love elders.
Ashok Gupta, president of the Club delivered welcome address and vote of thanks while Major General S.K Sharma (retired), general secretary of the Club conducted proceedings of the programme.
Anil Suri, Ashok Gupta, S.S Jain, Kaliash Langar, Dr Vijay Sharma, Ashok Khajuria, Rakesh Sharma, N.D Sharma, Anju Bansal, Vandana Mani, Dr. Neelam Gupta and core team of the management committee were also present on the occasion.
Senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta joined the celebrations of World Senior Citizen Day in a programme organised by ICICI Bank in Jammu. Key officials from ICICI Bank including Vishal Gupta, Regional Head; Mehak Khurana, Regional Head Sales; Navdeep Singh, Branch Manager; Sarabjeet Kour, Deputy Branch Manager and Diksha Suri, Relationship Manager were present in the programme. Addressing the gathering, Kavinder acknowledged the significant contributions of senior citizens, stating that they have devoted the prime years of their lives to build both the society and the nation.
Senior Citizens’ Rejuvenation Centre (SCRC) organised a programme and celebrated World Senior Citizen Day in Trikuta Nagar and felicitated Rekha Mahajan, BJP leader. The programme was organised by prominent senior citizens Shubchander Verma, founder member SCRC, Baldev Raj Gupta, president, Narinder Mahajan patron, T.R Tagger, general secretary and other team members.
