Police arrest accused in hit-and-run case of Arnia

JAMMU, Aug 22: A day after facing public protests, police in Arnia area here claimed today, they have arrested an individual wanted in a hit-and-run case that took place on August 19 in Allah Village.
Shubham Choudhary son of Ajit Ram was driving a light motor vehicle that collided with two motorcycles, injuring five people, including riders and pillion passengers.
Tragically, one of the injured, Kamaljit Singh son of Raunak Singh of Nandpur, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The accused, who also sustained minor injuries, was believed to be evading arrest.
The incident sparked protests yesterday by residents of Allah, Kotla, Arnia and Nandpur at Arnia, demanding immediate justice. The deceased’s family also pressed for the arrest of the accused.
Acting promptly, a team from Arnia Police Station, led by SHO concerned, Inspector Rouf Khan, arrested the accused Shubham Choudhary today, bringing relief to the grieving family and those still recovering from the injuries.
