SK Police Academy organizes course on ‘HR, Criminal Justice’

UDHAMPUR, Aug 22: A 3-day course on “Human Rights & Criminal Justice System” was successfully organized at SK Police Academy, Udhampur.
Today was the concluding day of this three-day intensive course on “Human Rights & Criminal Justice System”. A total of 15 officers from various divisions of the Jammu & Kashmir Police participated in the training program.
The course featured comprehensive discussions on fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India, United Nations declarations, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), as well as issues pertaining to vulnerable groups such as women and children.
Distinguished speakers, including Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP, Deputy Director SKPA; Kamal Sharma, Deputy Director Prosecution from CID Headquarters; Dr. Mahesh Koul, Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) New Delhi and Assistant Professor at SKUAST Jammu; Dr Savita Nayyar from the Department of Law, University of Jammu; Sheikh Shakeel, Advocate, High Court Jammu; and Advocate Supriya Choudhan, High Court Jammu, delivered insightful lectures and shared their valuable experiences with the participants.
The course concluded with a valedictory function at the Academy. Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Director (Indoor), graced the occasion as the chief guest.
In his valedictory address, Gupta emphasized the importance of adhering to human rights guidelines and regulations while managing law and order situations, conducting investigations, and during interrogations. He also urged the participants to share the knowledge gained during the course with their colleagues to ensure a safer and more dignified society.
The course was successfully coordinated by Sandeep Mahajan, Inspector, with the assistance of SI Irshad Ahmad, faculty member at SKPA.
