Dharmarth Trust to organize ‘Janmashtami Rath Yatra’ tomorrow

JAMMU, Aug 22: The J&K Dharmarth Trust, in collaboration with the Sanatan Dharm Sabha and Dharmik Youvak Mandal, is going to organize a grand Rath Yatra on August 24, 2024, to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
Addressing media persons at Trust’s Central Office in Jammu, Brig R S Langeh (Retd), President of J&K Dharmarth Trust informed that the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations will commence with a captivating Rath Yatra, a religious procession wherein the beautifully adorned chariot carrying the idols of Shri Krishna and Radha will be towed through the streets of Temple City.
He elaborated that the Shobha Murti Poojan ceremony is scheduled to take place at 3:30 PM on August 24, 2024 at Shri Raghunathji Temple, Jammu. Following this, he added, the Rath Poojan and Dhwajarohan ceremony will commence at 4:00 PM.
He emphasized the significance of these auspicious occasions, which provide an opportunity for individuals to connect with their rich culture and roots. He also expressed gratitude to the Sanatan Dharm Sabha, Dharmik Youvak Mandal, District Administration Jammu and Police Department for providing necessary support for the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra.
Ashok Kumar Sharma Secretary of the Trust, informed that the Shobha Yatra will follow the traditional route with some little change this year. The Rath Yatra will start from the historical Shri Raghunathji Temple passing through various markets, including Veer Marg – Shaheedi Chowk – Rajinder Bazar – Kanak Mandi – City Chowk – Old Hospital Road – Purani Mandi – Link Road – Jain Bazar – Chowk Chabutra – Pacca Danga – Moti Bazar – Geeta Bhawan – Ranbireshwar Temple – Shalamar Road and Raghunath Bazar, before finally culminating at Shri Raghunath Ji Temple.
The Secretary also mentioned that a Bhajan Sandhya will be organized by Subash Shastri in the premises of Shree Raghunath Ji Temple on the evening of August 26. He urged the people of Jammu to embrace this opportunity to reconnect with their spiritual heritage and participate actively in the festivities.
Sanjay Gupta, General Secretary of Sanatan Dharam Sabha, J&K; Anil Magotra, Secretary and Nischal Anand, Treasurer of Dharmik Youvak Mandal were also present in the press conference.
