Rahul trying to divide nation: Khatana

NEW DELHI, Aug 23: In a scathing rebuttal to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments, senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (RajyaSabha), Gulam Ali Khatana lashed out at Gandhi, accusing him of disrespecting the democratic mandate of the people and harboring an insatiable lust for power.
Khatana’s response came during an event here, today, where he referred to Gandhi’s remarks about Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s “direct connection with God” and the claim that the BJP Government is run by Congress workers. “Those who believe in God are naturally connected to Him. “You have no right to demean anyone’s beliefs. By repeatedly using the same rhetoric, you’re not just attacking the Prime Minister’s faith, but also the Constitution of India,’’ he said.
Khatana said “Religion is a personal matter and the citizens of India will undoubtedly hold you and your party accountable for disrespecting their beliefs,”.
Khatana did not mince words as he dismissed Gandhi’s comments as indicative of a leader out of touch with reality. “Rahul Gandhi says the NDA Government at the Centre is being run by Congress workers. I advise him he should read his speeches before making them. He makes a fool of himself every time,” Khatana remarked, ridiculing Gandhi’s statements.
The BJP leader went on to accuse Gandhi and the Congress party of being power-hungry, willing to say and do anything to regain control of the country. “The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi want to grab power and drag the country back into darkness. His desperation for power was on full display yesterday when he claimed that the NDA Government, elected by the people of India, is being run by Congress workers,” Khatana said.
Khatana’s comments took a sharper edge as he challenged Gandhi’s logic, questioning why the Congress party would create obstacles for a Government they allegedly control. “If the Government is run by Congress workers, why are you creating hurdles? Whatever decisions the Government makes, you divide people, you divide the nation. Your behavior clearly reflects your hunger for power” Khatana added.
The BJP leader also criticized Gandhi for making empty promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, accusing him of exploiting their sentiments for political gain.
