JAMMU, Aug 23: Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr Devansh Yadav conducted a detailed tour of several wards in Jammu South today. The visit focused on health and sanitation efforts managed by JMC and addressed complaints from the JMC online portal.
Dr Yadav visited areas including Transport Nagar (Ward Number 49), Channi Himmat (Ward Number 50) and Trikuta Nagar (Ward Numbers 53 and 54). The tour allowed local residents to voice concerns and suggestions, strengthening ties between JMC and the community.
The Commissioner reiterated the importance of JMC’s role in serving the public, urging residents to segregate waste at home and use the dedicated JMC vehicles for disposal. He also advised against dumping waste, particularly polythene, in lanes to prevent drain blockages and traffic disruptions.
In Transport Nagar, Dr Yadav inspected a ‘nallah’ with an eroded protective wall and ordered the installation of CCTV cameras to monitor illegal dumping of vehicles, construction materials, and waste. This measure will help identify offenders through their license plates and impose fines.
At Ward No. 49 in Channi Rama, near AM Hyundai, Dr Yadav called for land demarcation to identify encroachments and instructed authorities to prevent overflow. In Channi Himmat (Ward No. 50), he directed lane cleaning and debris removal from drains, issuing notices for unauthorized enclosures.
In Ward No. 54, Dr Yadav prioritized public safety by ordering the temporary restoration of the underpass and protection wall of the nallah. He also directed immediate action to resolve water overflow caused by blocked hume pipes on the main road.
A delegation from the Mohalla Welfare Society in Trikuta Nagar presented their grievances to Dr Yadav, who promptly ordered the temporary restoration of the underpass and ‘nallah’ protection wall in Ward No. 54, and instructed authorities to address water overflow issues.
The Commissioner was joined by Joint Commissioner Abdul Sattar, Deputy Commissioner Lal Chand, Joint Commissioner Firdous Ahmed Qazi, Health Officer Dr Vinod Sharma and other senior officers.
