SAMBA, Aug 23: A young man died on the spot in a tragic road accident on Samba-Mansar road here on Friday.
According to the information, a tralla loaded with bricks was going towards Manwal from Punjab, when it reached near Bindu Da Baida, Mansar, it could not climb the steep and hilly road and slowly started moving backwards. The young man sitting in the tralla got down from the vehicle to guide the driver but suddenly he was run over by the tralla, and died on the spot. The tralla stopped after colliding with another truck coming from behind, otherwise it would have fallen into a deep ditch.
As soon as the information of the accident was received, Mansar police rushed to the spot and shifted the youth to the District Hospital Samba for post-mortem. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the relatives for the last rites.
The deceased youth has been identified as Mohit Kumar, son of Prem Prakash, resident of Manwal district Jammu. The youth used to sell bricks in Manwal and he used to bring bricks from Punjab in a tralla. The police have registered a case and started the investigation.
