Kathua, Aug 23: Under the guidance of Principal GMC Kathua, Dr. Surinder Kumar Atri and supervision of MS Associated Hospital GMC Kathua, Dr. Sangita Ajrawat and Deputy MS, Dr. Neeraj Nagpal, another “total hip replacement surgery” was conducted under Ayushman Bharat Scheme (PMJAY) at Govt. Medical College Kathua.
The 70 year old patient was suffering from complicated fracture of neck of Femur bone with pre-existing Osteoarthritis of hip joint. The patient visited Department of Orthopaedics, GMC Kathua where the uncemented total hip replacement was performed by Dr. Rishabh Gupta (Associate Professor & I/C HoD) along with his team Dr. Amrit Rai Badgal (Assistant Professor) and Dr. Mudasser Arif (Senior Resident) supported by Anaesthesia team which was led by Dr. Sanjay Kalsotra (Professor & Head) and Dr. Rajesh Angral (Associate Professor). The surgery was performed under Ayushman Bharat scheme (PMJAY) totally free of cost.
The surgery was done using latest technique and patient started walking the very next day after surgery.
Dr. Rishabh Gupta further added that Department of Orthopaedics, GMC Kathua has performed more than 350- 400 complex orthopaedic procedures free of cost under this scheme, which include several Joint replacement surgeries and complex trauma surgeries.
