GMC Anantnag performs maiden spinal tumour surgery

Srinagar, Aug 23: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today successfully performed a complex spinal cord tumour removal surgery today on a 45-year-old male patient from the district.
The hospital reported that the intricate surgery was expertly conducted by a dedicated team comprising Dr. Younis Kamal, Spine Surgeon and HoD Orthopedics, and Dr. Basharat Mujtaba, senior Neurosurgeon.
“This collaboration between the departments of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery has set a new precedent, being the first of its kind performed at GMC Anantnag,” said a GMC spokesperson.
Officials stated that the patient is currently recuperating swiftly in the ICU ward, with his condition stable.
The success of the procedure, they noted, not only highlights the surgical expertise of the medical team but also reflects the exceptional support provided by the highly qualified anesthesia team, including Dr. Zaffar Malik, Associate Professor, Dr. Khalida, Consultant, and Dr. Hashim, along with the proficient members of the Ortho OT and Anesthesia OT teams.
