Senior national doctors attend Orthopedics workshop in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 24: Bone & Joint Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, in collaboration with the Indian Arthroscopy Society (IAS), successfully hosted a one day CME & workshop focused on “Knee Arthroscopy & High Tibia Osteotomy” today. The event was a significant milestone in advancing medical education and healthcare services in the region.
The event started with inaugural address by Dr Ghanshyam Saini (Head of Department Paediatrics, SMGS Jammu), who was the chief guest for the event.
Organized under the leadership of Professor & Head, Department of Orthopaedics Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, the workshop brought together an impressive array of experts, including renowned orthopedic surgeons and medical professionals from across the country. The event was honored to have Dr S Arumugam, President IAS from Chennai. Keynote national faculty included Dr Rajeev Raman (Kolkatta), Dr. Vineet Jain (New Delhi), Dr Sunit Hazra (Kolkatta), Dr Brijesh Kumar (Faridabad), Dr Inderdeep Singh (Amritsar), Dr Rajesh Gupta (HoD ASCOMS), Dr Manish K Varshney (SMVD Narayana Hospital), Dr Mohinder S Chib (Kathua) and Dr Manik Mahajan (Consulant Radiologist GMC Jammu).
More than 100 participants that included postgraduates, senior residents, senior faculty from various medical colleges and hospitals in the region, attended the event, making it a highly successful gathering for the medical community. The workshops provided hands-on training sessions, live surgeries, and insightful lectures that highlighted the latest advancements in knee arthroscopy and high tibia osteotomy techniques.
A key highlight of the event was the introduction of new cutting-edge medical technologies that promise to revolutionize patient care in the region. These technologies will enable local doctors to offer advanced treatments, significantly elevating the standard of healthcare available to the residents of Jammu and surrounding areas. The hands-on sessions were instrumental in ensuring that the attending doctors were well-trained in these new methodologies, paving the way for improved surgical outcomes and patient rehabilitation.
Dr. S. Arumugam, President of the Indian Arthroscopy Society, emphasized the importance of such workshops in bridging the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that healthcare professionals remain at the forefront of medical innovation.
The event concluded with a panel discussion, followed by a vote of thanks and closing remarks from Dr. Manish Singh, Organising secretary who expressed his gratitude to all the eminent faculty and participants and appreciated the efforts put forward by whole Orthoapaedics Department. Dr Shafiq Hackla and Dr Rahul Mahajan who were the Co organising Secretaries were instrumental in making the event a resounding success.
