JAMMU, Aug 25: Oasis Movement (1989), in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K, organized the Oasis-DSEJ Life Camp Festival 2024 at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, was the chief guest in the valedictory ceremony. The event witnessed the participation of several dignitaries, including Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director SCERT; Ashok Kumar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu; Kanta Devi, Spl Secretary SED; H R Pakhroo, Sindu Kapoor, Joint Directors in SCERT; Manisha Sharma, PO DSEJ; Monika Bhandari, CAO, and Jagdeep Kumar Padha, Chief Education Officer Jammu. Tina Vasudev and Mehul Panchal representing the Oasis, remained present along with their team.
In his keynote address, Alok Kumar asked the SCERT and officers of the Education Department to work in tandem to bring the transformational changes as per NEP 2020 as the Department is implementing NEP 2020 in letter & spirit.
He said that Oasis Movement emphasizes on a comprehensive approach to education that integrates intellectual, emotional, and ethical development, preparing students to become future leaders. This initiative likely envisions a future where education is not just about academic excellence, but also about nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of leading with empathy, innovation and a global perspective, he said.
Joint Director Central, H R Pakhroo apprised the gathering that the festival featured a three-day Oasis Jyotirdhar Workshop, designed to prepare Key Resource Persons (KRPs) from the Jammu Division. This workshop marked the beginning of a series of Oasis Basic Courses, focusing on self-leadership, character building and addressing the root causes of personal and professional challenges & attended by more than 500 participants, he added.
During the event, five educational books were launched, led by Tina Vasudev and Mehul Panchal. The books, focusing on various aspects of self-development and leadership, were distributed among young students who are active participants in the Oasis movement.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary also felicitated 17 meritorious students of 12th Class of Jammu Division, with a Digital Tab.
