Ex-Servicemen Association holds meet, discusses issues

AKHNOOR, Aug 26: To discuss their pressing issues and concerns, the Ex-Servicemen Association held its monthly meeting here today.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Lakhbir Singh, in which a large number of ex-servicemen were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakhbir Singh provided detailed feedback on recent activities, particularly emphasizing the functioning of the ECHS Poly Clinic, which has been a critical resource for veterans’ healthcare.
The members also expressed their frustration over the Central Government’s delay in addressing these concerns, demanding an immediate resolution to this long-standing issue.
On the issue of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Chairman advised the members to consider the social background, secularism, education, and public-friendly attitude of the candidates before casting their votes.
The members also demanded for their inclusion in the Village Defence Guards (VDGs), citing their extensive training and experience in handling weapons as a valuable asset to the community’s security.
Among others who attended the meeting included Mani Ram Bhagat, Bodh Raj, Jugal Gupta, Santosh Sharma, Dev Raj, Kaka Ram, Raghbir Singh, Jagdev Singh, Shello Ram, Parkash Chand, Bharat Bhushan and Puran Chand.
