Play “Naye Yug Ki Nari” staged at SPMR College of Commerce

JAMMU, Aug 27: Cultural and Literary Committee and NSS Units of Govt SPMR College of Commerce Jammu in collaboration with Natrang Theatre Group hosted a theatrical performance “Naye Yug Ki Nari”, which captivated the audience.
Principal of the College Dr Rajinder Singh presided over the function while Padamshree Balwant Thakur was chief guest on the occasion. The play was met with resounding applause and deep appreciation from students and faculty.
The programme started with traditional lighting of the lamp by Padamshree Balwant Thakur and Principal of the College Prof Rajinder Singh along with other faculty members.
Balwant Thakur, a renowned figure in the theatre community known for his insightful and impactful work, was both the playwright as well as director of the play. In his introduction to the play, he threw light on its background and conception and spoke at length on the importance of arts in personality development and building self confidence. He appraised the audience about few cases in which introvert people saw transformation in themselves.
“Naye Yug Ki Nari” meaning “Woman of the New Era,” was a thought-provoking play that delves into the different phases of struggle in a woman’s life which she undergoes. Through a series of engaging scenes and powerful dialogues, the play highlights the struggles, triumphs, and resilience of women navigating a rapidly changing world. The talented cast delivered moving performances that not only entertained but also sparked important conversations about gender equality, empowerment, and social change.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal said that the college was incredibly proud to host such an important and impactful play.
The entire programme was managed and coordinated by Dr Deepshikha Sharma, Convener Cultural and Literary Committee & NSS PO and Dr Deepak Pathania, NSS PO.
Those present on the occasion included Dr Roomi Rani, Prof Sindhu Kotwal, Prof Pawan Gupta, Dr Reena Rani, Dr Ashwani Kumar, Dr Chetna Gupta, Prof Ashraf Nawaz, Dr Madhu Bala, Prof Esha Abrol and Dr Mamta.
