About 150 students appear in scholarship test by HRBEF

JAMMU, Aug 27: Harbans Roshan Bhalla Educational Foundation (HRBEF) here today started scholarship test for the new students from rural areas and the same will continue till September 3, 2024 for classes from 1 to 3.
A handout of the Foundation stated that preference shall be given to the children of economically weaker families and those from government schools and 70 per cent selection will be for girls.
The tests will be conducted daily from 9 am to 11.30 am at Bee Enn General Hospital Complex, Talab Tillo Road, Jammu and all the eligible children can come for the tests on the scheduled dates and time.
The handout further stated that the Foundation has been awarding scholarships since the year 1997 and the number of children helped every year increased from 12 initially to 637 in 2024.
The Foundation covers the children from rural areas of Arnia, Chack, Rattian, Doomi, Amb, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Gharota, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia, Patti, Ghou Manhasan, Garh Mandi, Saruinsar, Kanachak, Ranjri, Samba etc.
The students already getting scholarship from the Foundation can also appear for the tests on the scheduled dates and time.
Every year over 16 lakh rupees are spent on the education programme by the Foundation.
This year the Foundation has announced giving additional prizes amounting Rs. 1 lakh under Ram Lal Bhalla Awards under Toppers Scheme and these awards will be given to topper students who secured above 75 per cent marks. The test is conducted four times in a year.
Managing Trustee of the Foundation, Kunil Bhalla informed that families of financially weak girl children from classes 1 to 3 may apply to the Foundation for scholarship.
