KP civil society appeals displaced Pandits to cast vote enmass

JAMMU, Aug 28: A meeting of prominent Kashmiri Pandit activists and civil society members was held here, today in which a fervent appeal was made to the community to participate in elections by casting their vote for the larger national interests.
The meeting was chaired by BJP co-Incharge Kashmir, Displaced district, H L Bhat in which various issues confronting the community came to fore. The meeting urged the Government to address the core issue of rehabilitation in accordance to geo political aspirations of the community. The return and rehabilitation issue of the community should be permanent and not cosmetic.
The meeting said that the Government should not hinder this issue and take community leadership into consideration. It said 35 years is a long time and how long the community has to lead the exiled life. The Government which took various out of box decisions on J&K needs to settle the issue of main victims of turmoil.
The meeting also appealed the community members to ensure their en-mass participation in the Assembly elections -the festival of democracy.
Addressing the meeting Hira Lal Bhat said that with the efforts of community the cumbersome process of M Forms has been removed during the recently held Lok Sabha elections with the intervention of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and now he process for casting vote for migrants is easy and he expressed the hope that every individual of the community attaining the age of 18 years will cast his or her vote in this election.
He assured the community that the genuine issues faced by displaced people will be taken with the Government for their immediate redressal which besides permanent rehabilitation included implementation of various welfare schemes on displaced people, enhancement of cash relief, creation of job avenues for unemployed youth etc.
The meeting was addressed by Bushan Lal Bhat, ex president JK Vichar Manch, I K Raina a social activist, Inder Krishan Koul, Swayamsevak, Chand Ji Bhat, Swayamsevak, Naveen Handoo and Satish Khuda, social activists, Sanjay Ganjoo, president, Durga Nagar Welfare Committee, M L Bhat, representative Barnai Welfare Committee, Arun Ambardar an educationist.
