JAMMU, Aug 29: In a significant step towards promoting gender equality and fostering an inclusive environment, the Mission Shakti Sankalp HEW Social Welfare Department, Jammu today conducted a gender sensitization program at SPMR College of Commerce.
The initiative, under the flagship “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” program, aimed to challenge gender stereotypes and promote respectful interactions between genders. In the presence of Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, the program was inaugurated by Dr Rajinder Singh, Principal of the college.
The program featured a thought-provoking speech delivered by Khushboo Kapte, Gender Specialist, Mission Shakti Sankalp HEW Jammu. Her speech addressed gender stereotypes, highlighted the importance of gender equality and emphasized the need for respectful and inclusive behavior.
The audience comprised college faculties including Dr Reena Rani, Convener ICASH, Dr Deepshikha Sharma and Dr Deepak Pathania, NSS POs, Dr Ashraf Nawaz, Convener IQAC, Prof Rekha Gupta, Dr Chetna Gupta, Dr Madhu Bala, Prof Esha Abrol and Dr Mamta Rani.
The session facilitated open dialogue and fostered a deeper understanding of gender issues. The program was a testament to Mission Shakti’s ongoing commitment to empowering girls and fostering a gender-sensitive society.
