SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Kashmir was lashed by widespread rains for the second consecutive day today leading to drop in temperatures across the region.
Srinagar and surrounding areas experienced rainfall for the second consecutive day today since morning.

With the incessant rains temperatures across the region dropped by several notches. The maximum temperature in Srinagar settled at 21.5 Degree Celsius which is 7.8 Degree Celsius below normal. Qazigund settled at 21.8 Degree Celsius which is 5.4 Degree Celsius below normal. Pahalgam settled at 17.7 Degree Celsius which is 7.0 Degree Celsius below normal. Kupwara settled at 18.5 Degree Celsius which is 11.6 Degree Celsius below normal. Kokernag settled at 20.1 Degree Celsius which is 6.7 Degree Celsius below normal. Gulmarg settled at 14.2 Degree Celsius which is 6.1 Degree Celsius below normal.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that a spell of light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at many places on August 30 while from August 31 to September 1 there is a possibility of a brief spell of rain or thundershower at many places.
“From September 2 to 3 the weather will generally remain cloudy with the possibility of spell of rain/thundershower at scattered places while the weather will generally remain dry from September 4 to 7,” the MeT office said.
The MeT office has also issued an advisory of intense showers for a brief period at a few places with heavy rain at isolated places of Jammu division during the next 24 hours towards late night or early morning.
The inclement weather may cause flash floods/landslides/mudslides and shooting stones over few vulnerable places over Jammu and Kashmir.
