SRINAGAR, Aug 30: Although the latest MRI, CT scan, and X-ray machines-crucial for enhanced patient care-are still awaited, the Director of SKIMS, Prof. Mohd. Ashraf Ganie, today commissioned twenty integrated anesthesia workstations worth Rs 10.5 crore in the Department of Anesthesia.
According to a SKIMS PRO, the commissioning took place in the presence of HoDs from various departments, including Dr. Showkat Ahmad Gurcoo, HoD of Anesthesiology; Dr. Mohd. Akbar Shah, HoD of Critical Care Medicine; Dr. Muheebul Haq, HoD of Bioengineering & Radiophysics; and other faculty members from the concerned departments.
“The Director of SKIMS noted that the administration’s goal is to provide the best facilities for its patients. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to making every department at SKIMS self-sufficient in terms of available facilities,” the PRO said in a statement.
Dr. Ganie, on the occasion, stated that the commissioning of the equipment marks a positive step forward and will significantly enhance the quality of patient care at SKIMS.
It is noteworthy that the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care is one of the largest departments at SKIMS. According to the statement, the department currently has 14 Consultants, 29 Senior Residents, 63 Postgraduate Students (MD), 6 DNB students and other supporting staff.
The department provides specialized tertiary care to all patients coming from different regions of the UT.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned that Dr. Ganie is focused on improving infrastructure and manpower with the aim of enhancing patient care at the premier hospital in J&K.”
