JAMMU, Aug 31: A significant conference of Chartered Accountants (CAs) was organized at ICAI Bhawan, here by the Tax Audit Quality Review Board (TAQRB) of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI).
The event was chaired by Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Central Council Member of ICAI, as part of his ongoing efforts to help members’ upskill and prepare for the upcoming Tax Audit Season. Agarwal, who has been organizing similar workshops and seminars across northern India, emphasized the importance of continuous learning for Chartered Accountants.
The session featured a keynote address by eminent speaker and Tax Guru, Dr Girish Ahuja, a Government Tax Advisor, who discussed the key changes introduced in the Finance Act 2024. Sanjay Agarwal also delivered an insightful presentation on reporting in Tax Audits, including updates on Section 43B(h).
Agarwal’s illustrious career within ICAI began with his first election to the Central Council in 2010, followed by re-elections in 2013, 2016, and 2022. Over the years, he has chaired several key committees, including Direct Tax, Public Relations, and International Taxation. Notably, as Deputy Convenor of the Legal Directorate (2022-23), he spearheaded numerous critical initiatives.
This year, in addition to leading the TAQRB, Agarwal is at the helm of the Committee for Aggregation of CA Firms, which is making strides to elevate Indian CA firms to the level of global accounting giants. He also leads the Committee for Members in Entrepreneurship & Public Services, tirelessly encouraging chartered accountants to explore unconventional paths and contribute to nation-building.
